This four-act drama by Russian novelist and playwright Leonid Andreyev concerns the betrayal of a scientist by his wife. This English translation by Gregory Zilboorg, who introduces the play, was published in New York in 1922. A heralded 1924 silent film by the same name starred Lon Chaney.
